Ancient Greece

Athens and Sparta are at war. Pupils meet Prokeles a slave from the City of Athens who extols the glories of Greek civilisation and Turan, a Skythian warrior who is following Prokeles to rescue her sister from slavery. The pupils are asked to help mediate between the two characters and by doing so discuss the nature of civilisation and empire, the role of women in the ancient world and explore the technology of the time.

Ancient Egypt

Time Travellers brings you a priestess and a farmer from 25th Dynasty Egypt. Taharqa, the Nubian pharaoh rules upper and lower Egypt.

In the temple of Amun in Luxor Shepenwepet, God's Wife of Amun, prepares for the Opet festival.

Across the Nile, on the farms, life goes on as it always has.

Roman Britain

They make a desert and call it peace. With the help of Sarrius, a male Romanised potter and Ritona a female clan leader, the programme looks at the Romanisation of Briton in the middle of the second century AD.

Saxon Britain

The First Northumbrians
Pupils meet Owein a leader of warriors from the British Kingdom of Rheged and Bebbhild, a noble woman from the Saxon Kingdom of Deira. Pupils hear spells and poems from the C6th, discover the technology of the time and explore how Saxons and Britons struggled for control of the North. The programme can be adapted to reflect local history and gallery exhibits.

Victorian Britain

Time Travellers can provide a range of characters and programmes tailored to your local situation, or designed to deal with particular historical issues. We can provide national politicians, local industrial workers, soldiers, explorers, whatever you require.

Past Programmes have ranged from creating the entire household of a Victorian Estate, 2 character interpretations looking at the growth of towns and manufacturing, to solo characters exploring early railway travel or life in service.

The Short Military Career of Jim Wilson (True story taken from original letters dealing with the different perspectives of a young man and woman)

Interview with Wilfred Owen (An interview with the war poet using his own words)

1939 - 45 : The Second World War

Kindertransport
Kindertransport raises important questions about the build up to the Holocaust and outside perceptions of what was happening in Germany before the war and explores how those events impacted on the lives of ordinary people in England in a very direct way.

Beyond Praise
Jimmy Robson VC was a fighter all his life, from the back streets of Newcastle’s West End to the deserts of Egypt, but was he a hero? An interactive performance that explores different experiences of war and asks the audience to consider how our society defines heroism.

The Girls Behind The Guns
Dot Harper joined the ATS to 'do her bit' for the duration. After basic training she is posted to the Royal Artillery and serves on an anti-aircraft gun park. The programme explores the lives of women both on the home front and in the services during this extraordinary period of social disruption and changing attitudes to the role of women.
